Winter '24 Newsletter

Happy New Year! I hope everyone is finding some rest and ease as we head into this new year and leave the old one behind. And, of course, some time to dance too. Please take a look for some bits of reflection and lots of information on what's happening in my small corner of the dance world.

Reflecting on this past year, I am thankful to have finally gotten into a good rhythm with my dance offerings. After having a kid, leaving my previous job, the pandemic, and then a second kid, it has taken me five years to build any consistent momentum with my work. I now have a monthly dance and ongoing weekly group classes. Both bring me so much joy and allow me to do what I love: social dance. The people, the music, the laughter, the movement…that dopamine hit is real, folks!

The first social of the year is on Jan 7th, and a new set of group classes begins Jan 21st, so please check out my calendar for all the details and join us!

I am also thankful for the connections I have made in the dance community this past year and beyond. That is the heart and soul of partner dancing. This season of dance has been about pushing myself to reach out to other dancers and communities, even beyond partner dance. I am never disappointed by people's kindness and how the movement brings people together. In that spirit, I am starting the year with a workshop featuring the lovely and knowledgeable Jennifer Speiden, "Finding Your Foundation." When you work on dance technique in any depth, you find out how important your feet are, and understanding how they work can help you improve your quality movement, spins, agility...all the things! So, let's start the year right with a workshop where we reconnect to and rejuvenate our feet!

Bonny Branch and I have Adela Su on the calendar for April 27th for a West Coast Swing event, and be on the lookout for other special events!

I am hopeful for another year of small and slow but meaningful steps forward and continuing to connect and collaborate with other dancers. Whatever your hopes are, I wish you good things as we embark on 2024.

Here we go!
