Shoes

Shoes can make or break your dance experience. You don’t necessarily need to buy new shoes to get on the dance floor but you want to make sure to wear shoes that will support your feet rather than hinder your movement. The ideal dance shoe will have a relatively flexible sole allowing your foot to articulate and with little traction that will allow your foot to pivot. These are great if you are looking for maximum flexibility and are currently my favorites! They have suede leather soles, which I personally always prefer, and they come up the ankles making them cuter than a traditional jazz shoe. I am seeing so many folks switching to these so they seem to work well for many!

This Brazilian brand has several styles that I have either tried myself or know many fellow dancers that have. The Corrida style is the one that I wear…great for wide feet! They have plastic soles so I used the suede adhesive to convert them (listed below). That worked well for me, but many dance in them as is! Great for indoor/outdoor use.

If you already have the perfect street shoe but wish the sole had less traction to help with spins you can apply your own suede. I have transformed several shoes over the years successfully with this method!
