Private Lessons
Private lessons are the perfect space to take a deep dive into your dance. During this time, you will get to work on specific goals, get targeted feedback, and have guided practice. I work with couples, singles, and small groups of all experience levels. There is no right or wrong way to use your time- it is for you.
Wedding couples often use private lessons to prepare for their first dance. Together, we navigate the details and devise a plan that suits your personality as a couple. This can help to alleviate the stress and worry of performing and allows you to relax and enjoy your moment on the dance floor.
Some dance styles I teach include Waltz, Fox Trot, Tango, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Salsa, Cha Cha, Rumba, Country 2 Step, and Night Club.
Pricing
One private lesson is $72
A package of ten private lessons is $640
A private lesson is one hour with 1-2 students. Pricing will change with three or more students.
The 10-pack can be paid in halves, $320 at the first lesson and $320 at the fourth lesson.
Lesson packages expire one year after the purchase date (1st payment in the case of splitting )
Getting Started
SCHEDULING
If you would like to schedule a lesson, please contact me and let me know your availability. Scheduling a private lesson can be a one-time thing or recurring… you can schedule one hour at a time or do multiple…it can be a weekday or weekend, afternoon or evening; anything is possible.
PAYMENT
Payment can be taken care of in advance or by the end of the first lesson with an online payment, cash, or check. Please message me for details.
CANCELATION POLICY
Please extend 24-hour notice when possible. I reserve the right to charge for the lesson when less notice is given.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Please read the code of conduct before your first lesson. By attending the lesson, I will assume you have read and agree to it.
WHAT TO EXPECT
One lesson is a full hour and is held at Open Space Studios, 1711 North Main Street, Blacksburg, VA 24060.
We share the building with several other businesses, and most of the time, the front entrance is unlocked, especially during normal business hours. However, if you arrive before me, there is a chance the entrance will be locked, so just hang tight. Once you enter the studio is to the right through another set of glass doors. If you can, arrive 5 minutes early to change shoes, use the restroom, take care of payment if needed, etc.
If you are late, I may still need to end the lesson on time, and the time missed will not necessarily be made up. I value your time and will make every effort to respect it by arriving on time, contacting you if I am running late, and making up missed time if I am late.
I think it’s helpful to think beforehand about what you would like to work on and come prepared with questions. We will spend some time in each lesson discussing any new goals or questions that come up.
TRACKING LESSONS
For each continuing student, I create a spreadsheet on Google Docs to track lessons and payments and take notes on what is covered in each lesson. This spreadsheet will be shared with you, and you can read the notes and add to them as you'd like.
WHAT TO WEAR/BRING
The studio space has a wonderful bamboo floor that is easily scratched, so shoes with smooth or soft soles are appreciated. You may be asked to dance in socks if your shoes have sharp heels or rough soles. Otherwise, you may wear what feels comfortable. The same goes for your clothes. You might consider how it moves and if it allows you to move your legs and arms freely.
Please bring a water bottle. There is a kitchen sink to fill your bottle but no water fountain. I occasionally have drinks on hand, so feel free to ask.
REFUND POLICY
Lessons are non-refundable once the lesson is completed. If you have purchased a package and would like a refund before the package is completed, you must request within six months of the purchase date and 30 days of the last lesson taken. Once you request a refund, it will be processed within 30 days. A refund negates the package discount, and each lesson that has been used will be charged at the single lesson rate.
