Local Dancing Continues...Just On-line.

Hello friends!

How are you? I think about you, the dance community, often and I really hope everyone is holding together in whatever way they can.

This letter is a bit long for me, but I want to let you know what’s going on with myself as well as other movers in our local community. I have enjoyed having access to teachings and events hosted far and wide, but as we continue to shelter in place I am finding it grounding to invest and engage my time as locally as possible.

First off, starting TONIGHT Blacksburg West Coast Swing (a VT student group) has gotten approval to continue meeting with me via Zoom for the rest of the semester. Our lessons will be live, Thursdays at 6 (intermediate) and 7 (beginner)....the last session will be on May 7th. Link to join tonight.....

I also have some videos of drills that are great for at home practice and hope to have them on YouTube soon to share with you. Stay tuned. I am also available to work with you or a group via Zoom. Just get in touch if that is something you want to know more about.

New River Moving Arts continues to offer a variety of classes and have found that one advantage to teaching remotely is it allows folks to try something in the privacy of their home. You can join a class and turn your camera off so no one can see you! If you’ve ever wanted to try ballet or modern (excellent complement to partner dancing) they have all level classes each week. Contact them directly to find out more https://www.newrivermovingarts.com/contact.Sapphire Ballroom is offering 4 hours worth of on-line classes a month with a contribution. You can find all the details and how to connect  here, https://my-site-100891-106482.square.site/product/sapphire-online-covid-19-response/13?cs=true. Get in touch with them to find out more about the specific  content and how to register. If you would like to try some yoga created specifically to help you through this stressful time, local instructor Jennifer Speiden has videos for you on her YouTube channel, https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCigMpUsWU8O5csB1KyOpDBQ. She accepts donations by https://venmo.com/Jennifer-Speiden or PayPal to mandaradance@yahoo.com. Lastly I want to mention Tate Di Chiazza who is not local but invests in our local Tango community twice a year. He was touring in the US with Karen Jaffe, planning to visit us in July, when the pandemic hit. He is now hunkering down with his parents in Buenos Aires and very thankful he was able to change his flight and make it back home before he would have been unable to. If you would like to throw some financial support in his direction you can at https://www.gofundme.com/f/come-back-tate?fbclid=IwAR2zBSlitlDXuzBQjpK_OCf7PV4Q00fo-puVQAu6ixbgvD6-JFNXpz7F9hM

Keep hangin' in and know that I am wishing you all health, safety and comfort.

All the best!
